Okay this might sound a bit stupid but I genuinely can't tell if my car is broken or if I'm just expecting too much from a Volkswagen in this heat. I've got a 2018 Tiguan and most of the time the AC is absolutely fine, gets cold quick enough and keeps the cabin comfortable. But I've noticed this very specific pattern that's been bugging me lately. If I park the car at work with the front end facing directly into the afternoon sun for a few hours, when I come out to drive home the AC takes an absolute eternity to produce anything remotely cold. The fan is working overtime and the air just feels like it's been heated up by a hair dryer. Now if I park in the shade or even with the rear facing the sun, it's back to normal within a minute or two. My old Corolla never cared which direction it was parked, the AC just worked regardless. Is there something about the condenser placement on these MQB platform cars that makes them extra susceptible to heat soak, or should I be looking for a Trusted Volkswagen AC Workshop in Sharjah to check if the system is a little low on refrigerant or maybe the cooling fans aren't pulling enough air across the condenser at idle? I don't want to pay a diagnostic fee for someone to tell me it's just a hot car doing hot car things, but on the flip side if there's a slow leak I'd rather catch it now than in July when it completely gives up. Anyone with a Tiguan or even an Alltrack notice the same quirk?
