Learned the hard way that parking in the sun kills batteries faster than I ever imagined

So I moved apartments in June and went from a nice shaded underground spot to an open rooftop parking situation, figured it would just be annoying for the first five minutes of AC blasting but I didn't think about what it was doing under the hood. Fast forward three months and one morning the car just wouldn't turn over at all, completely dead, and of course I had a meeting in an hour. The recovery guy who came out was actually pretty knowledgeable and he pointed at my battery and said the case looked slightly warped which he reckons was from the relentless heat exposure on the roof with no cover. I told him the battery was only like 18 months old and he just laughed and said that's normal here if you don't have something built for extreme temperatures. After that whole ordeal I asked around in a local car group on Facebook and a few guys recommended getting an Amaron Car Battery specifically because they're designed to handle higher under hood temps without the electrolyte drying out as fast, something about the alloy composition but I was honestly only half listening at that point. Ended up grabbing a reflective sunshade for the windshield too which probably helps a tiny bit, but man I wish someone had warned me about the parking situation before I learned the hard way. Anyone else notice a massive difference in battery life just from switching to covered parking?
